“What can we really know?” by Nithin Nagaraj

Will the sun rise tomorrow? Can we be sure that the moon will not fly away from its orbit anytime soon? Is there life outside our planet? Science has emerged as the most reliable, consistent and rational way of finding answers to such perplexing questions about our Universe. Mathematics, the language of Science, is considered to be the most precise, logical and rigorous way of acquiring such knowledge. In this talk, I shall attempt to address the questions – How certain is scientific/mathematical knowledge? What is that which I can know with absolute certainty?
