“Are parts and wholes philosophically interesting?” by Siddharth S

The notions of composition/combination, parts and wholes might not initially seem like subjects for philosophical inquiry. In this presentation, I shall briefly motivate the philosophical issues involved in thinking about these concepts, especially two seemingly similar yet different questions: a). What is composition? b) What does one have to do to bring about a composite entity? In exploring some of the responses to these questions, I shall also highlight their implications for philosophical questions about the mind, and vice versa.
